Wow, it's been a while (over month) since I last blogged - sorry about that, but a couple of things have been going on of late:
First, we've had our noses to the grind stone making sure the version of DriveWorksXpress that is going into recently released SolidWorks 2008 is our best ever release ever. I can't even begin to tell you how weird and personally fulfilling it has been to be using DriveWorksXpress in another language (German) as this marks our first ever localized release.
In other news, we've been hard at work on the next service pack to DriveWorks 6 - Service Pack 2. We've made a few big enhancements in addition to the quality and performance work we do with each release.
I'll post more about Service Pack 2 as soon as we make it available for general release, but one of the things I can talk about is some of the work we've done around DriveWorks Live.
One of the things we hear more and more frequently now is how much people really like the Tempus doors concept demo which we originally created for SolidWorks World 2006, but felt that the look-and-feel we ship out of the box doesn't really meet expectations. With that in mind, for SP2 we set about creating a brand new theme for DriveWorks Live with a much more modern and responsive feel, and a wholly improved configurability story, and I hope you'll agree it's a massive improvement.
For a sneak peek of some of the work we've been doing, you can take a look at this photo gallery I created which shows some pre-release screen-shots.
We've also done some work with the underlying platform of DriveWorks Live to improve performance, this is in addition to all the work we did going from DriveWorks Live 5 to DriveWorks Live 6 which saw the introduction of a completely new architecture designed for performance and scalability which I have talked about to some degree before.
I'll post some more over the coming weeks about SP2, and some of the other stuff that has been going, but I just wanted to finish off with a link to Jeff Mirisola's blog.
Jeff covers quite a lot of ground on his blog, and I do enjoy reading about some of the technologies he's been playing with, but as a shameless plug I thought I'd draw your attention to a couple of posts where he mentions/talks-about DriveWorks:
Again, sorry for the delay, I promise I'll post again soon ;-)
